Sarah McLeod is back !

Australian fans of Sarah McLeod can re-joice!

Having spent the last 3 years abroad (working with names including Autoerotique, Steve Aoki and Mike Posner), Sarah McLeod is finally ready to showcase her new sound alongside her new LIVE band. Sarah McLeod will be playing an exclusive headline show in Sydney on Wed Dec 8th in support of her current single ‘Dancing in The Dark’.

Sarah’s infectious dance/ pop tracks have seen her quickly become THE electronic cross over artists to watch in 2010. Her releases have received worldwide support from names including Radio’s 1 Annie Nightingale, Fedde Le Grand, Chris Lake and Australian international superstars TV Rock.

Whilst in recent times her singles ‘He Doesn’t Love You’ (a collaboration with ‘Hook N Sling’) and ‘White Horse’ have both achieved US and UK radio and DJ support. ‘He Doesn’t Love You’ was the most successful single ever on Renaissance and also hit the ARIA club chart #1 and ‘White Horse’ (which hit UK Official Club Chart #8), spent 19 weeks in the top 20 of the US Billboard dance charts. As current single ‘Dancing in The Dark’ now sits in the ARIA Club Charts Top 10, with follow up single ‘Love & Honour’ about to drop and an album release slated for early 2011, this intimate show featuring Sarah and her LIVE band is not to be missed!

Sarah McLeod is a musician in the old school sense of the word. She works from her home studio. She writes, plays and programmes. She produces and engineers her own music. She moves “studios” a lot because she keeps getting evicted for noise complaints. Oh yeah, and she can play legit air drums with her toes. She is the former front woman of “The Superjesus”.

She enjoyed much high profile success. Then she lost everything. She no longer knew who she was. She lived between New York City and London for three years looking for the answer to that question. She looked for comfortability. She wanted to become a better artist. She had many dark times. She found peace through writing music because it was the only thing that she felt justified her existence.

She morphed her sound from rock to electro because she discovered she could get more ferociousness out of a dirty low tuned synth than she ever could from an electric guitar. The new sounds and production techniques made her believe again.

She puts great thought, heart and depth into her lyrics. She didn’t always do this. Her ambition has always been to be respected as a songwriter and as an artist.

She sold 5 sentimental guitars, for absolute peanuts, in order to fund a tour.

She has been dropped by three labels through out her career. Her favourite breakfast cereal is crunchy nut cornflakes.

Her live show consists of two drummers, a DJ and Sarah.

Sarah plays guitar and a huge floor tom saturated with effects. She loves her new band.

A London A&R man once told her that girls who play guitar never make it in the music industry. She believes him to be a wanker.

She once built her own recording studio. She’s handy. She likes to re-arrange hotel room furniture so to give the room a cosier feeling. Her warmth is reflected in her surroundings.

Her favourite movie is Superman. Her hero is Marlon Brando.

She mentors a 15-year-old girl she calls “The Kid”.

She’s complicated. She often gets so frustrated that her body caves in and she falls asleep. She always wakes up, wipes the shit from her shoes and does it all again.

She is always changing her mind.

Every time she writes a song she thinks it’s the best thing she’s done yet :)

She tried to be so many things to so many people. It didn’t work. She can’t please everyone. Now she just works on being true to the people that support her. They are her family.

She has had dreams that didn’t add up, but she just works harder.

There’s a shrine in her home with two giant paintings that represent LOVE and the other WAR, side by side. She has a Buddga sitting in between them as a mediator; the Buddha holds a small emblem that says ‘Holdfast’. The Buddha wears a construction hard hat. There’s a sign next to him that says ‘Keep Calm Carry on’.

Hey guys,

Some things have shifted a little within my camp and I wanna talk to you all about it.

I’ve met with my management and Roustabout label team who feel that we don’t have enough ”momentum” for a release this year. We were hoping for stronger support from radio and fans before the album hits stores but with all the space taken up by the major labels (and their US artist releases) we can’t be sure that this will happen this side of Christmas. My team are the hardest working Roustabouts out there.. and we do it all for you guys and how proud we feel when we put out hot music !

I understand that people have been waiting a long time for this album and I’m so sorry to push back the release. Nobody is more disappointed than me.

I wish that things were different and we could get this album under people’s trees (or digital trees) for Christmas but we hope that you can bear with us until the new year. To tide you over, here’s an MP3 of a cover… just for you :)
